Membership

Shipping Australia Ltd provides professional support to its members through promoting member interests. There are three levels of membership each offering a specific range of services:

  • Full member
  • Corporate Associate Member

Full Membership

Membership of Shipping Australia is open to all ship owners, operators and agents both Australian and International providing services to or within Australia.

Membership provides the opportunity to help shape and promote the policies of the shipping industry in Australia and internationally through the various committees of Shipping Australia. It ensures that you have your say.

It gives members a forum for the exchange of information with governments and other bodies influencing policy on matters relating to the shipping industry.

Members are provided with timely information on developments that impact on the industry and on the broader political, economic and industrial scene in which they operate within Australia.

Members gain financial benefits from Shipping Australia activities in port authority pricing, Customs and Quarantine regulations, waterfront reform, environmental laws, electronic commerce and EDI, pilotage, navigation aids, the use of sea-lane routes, and so on. The savings which Shipping Australia has managed to achieve for shipping in Australia, of whatever type, and whatever nationality, amount to many millions of dollars, and far outweigh the investment in the association.

Members receive Shipping Australia’s quarterly magazine and will also benefit from reduced fees for SAL training courses and functions in addition to many other benefits.

Corporate Associate Member

Corporate Associate membership is open to companies with an interest in the shipping industry.

Corporate Associates will receive all the publications received by Individual Associates and in addition will be entitled to receive SAL circulars and special reports detailing the work and deliberations of SAL’s various Committees.

Corporate Associates employees will also benefit from reduced fees for SAL training courses and functions.

#biosecurity is the focus at National Biosecurity Forum 2019 in Canberra today.

@senbmckenzie highlights higher biosecurity risks through 20% increase in #aircargo &170% increase in mail volumes - while #AfricanSwineFever is the highest current threat.

Minister for Agriculture @senbmckenzie sidelines #Shipping in the Biosecurity Futures Group. A glaring omission as 98% of Aus trade goes by sea. It undermines this otherwise positive initiative recommended by the expert panel (which included @PortsAustralia & @ShippingAus)
