Complaints relating conditions of employment continue to make up the majority (54 per cent) of the Maritime Labour Convention complaints reported to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority last year, AMSA has reported, which is consistent with previous years.
Maritime Labour Convention-related detainable ship deficiencies have fallen from 7.3 per cent in 2022 to 4.2 per cent in 2023, according to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority in its March 2024 “Maritime Safety Awareness Bulletin”.
